Function
The KRM-DZ duct smoke detector was developed for smoke detection in ventilation ducts. It represents a combination of a smoke detector with an adapter system whose measuring tube and housing have been specially adapted for optimal airflow through the smoke detector.
The duct sampling tube transports the air within the duct along the entire length of the tube via the detector chamber back into the duct. Upon detection of smoke, the detector reacts immediately and triggers an alarm. Over time, the detector becomes contaminated. Due to alarm threshold tracking, sensitivity remains constant until total contamination. From 70 % contamination, the detector signals contamination. If the detector is not replaced, a smoke alarm occurs at 99 % contamination. The contamination level is signaled on a two-line LED display, which flashes at > 70 %.
To monitor functionality, the device is equipped with an electronic airflow monitoring system, which illuminates a blue LED if < 1 m/s. The fault LED illuminates if the smoke detector or electronics are defective, or if the smoke detector is missing. The smoke alarm or a fault must be reset with the reset button. The same button also allows for a functional test.
Actuation works like a smoke alarm. Furthermore, the same function is achieved on restart by opening the bridge between terminals 9 and 10 (remote unlocking).
