Function
The KRM-X duct smoke detector was developed for smoke detection in ventilation ducts. It is a combination of a smoke detector with an adapter system whose sampling tube and housing have been specially adapted for optimal airflow through the smoke detector. The multi-chamber sampling tube in the air duct transports the air within the air duct along the entire length of the tube via the detector chamber back into the air duct. Upon detecting smoke, the detector reacts immediately and triggers an alarm. Over time, the detector becomes dirty. Due to the alarm threshold tracking, the sensitivity remains the same until total contamination. From 70 % contamination, the detector triggers and signals this by flashing. If the detector is not replaced, a smoke alarm will occur from 99 % contamination. The degree of contamination is signalled on a two-line LED display; at > 70 % this flashes and the "dirt" relay drops out. To demonstrate functionality, the device is equipped with electronic airflow monitoring, which illuminates a blue LED if the flow is < 1 m/s. The fault LED illuminates if the smoke detector or electronics are defective or if the smoke detector is missing. The smoke alarm must be reset using the reset button. The function test can also be carried out with the same button. Activation acts like a smoke alarm. Furthermore, the same function is achieved by restarting or by opening the bridge between terminals 9 and 10 (remote unlocking)
